From One Call to a Community Fed: The Beckygee Foundation Story
It Started With One Call
Every NGO inside the Food Bank Network Nigeria had a first call that turned into a relationship. For the Beckygee Foundation, that call came from FBNN: A support from the network to reach out to vulnerable families they serve in their community.
Who the Beckygee Foundation Serves
Since 2019, the Beckygee Foundation has worked to help Nigerian women rebuild their sense of self-worth, running counseling, awareness programs, and skills-empowerment sessions for women recovering from crisis, abuse, and hardship. Their outreach regularly reaches some of the most vulnerable people in their community especially women who do not have the means to feed themselves, let alone the families depending on them. Food is not the foundation’s core program, but it is often the bridge to everything else they do. A woman who is hungry cannot fully engage in a counseling session or a skills training. Feeding her first is what makes the rest possible.
A Call That Became a Pattern
That first call from FBNN did not stand alone. It became a pattern, a relationship the Beckygee Foundation team has come to expect and rely on. FBNN reaches out regularly with foodstuffs that go straight into the foundation’s outreaches, removing one more barrier between a vulnerable woman and the support she came for.
“They are always calling on us to give us foodstuffs for us to be able to reach out to the society, and this will go a long way to reach out to the vulnerable people in the society. And I would love to be here anytime they call on us again and I really appreciate
them.”

From One Call to a Community Fed
This is what the network effect looks like up close. One call from FBNN becomes a delivery. A delivery becomes an outreach. An outreach becomes a woman who is no longer choosing between feeding her children and attending a session that could change her life. The Beckygee Foundation’s gratitude is a direct reflection of how food support translates into their ability to do the rest of their work. That is the value of a network built on relationships instead of paperwork alone. It moves at the speed of trust.
